I SHALL BE SUCCESSFUL, 2 KINGS 18:1-8
1 In the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, Hezekiah son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign. 2 He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years. His mother’s name was Abijah daughter of Zechariah. 3 He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father David had done. 4 He removed the high places, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles. He broke into pieces the bronze snake Moses had made, for up to that time the Israelites had been burning incense to it. (It was called Nehushtan.) 5 Hezekiah trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel. There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, either before him or after him. 6 He held fast to the Lord and did not stop following him; he kept the commands the Lord had given Moses. 7 And the Lord was with him; he was successful in whatever he undertook. He rebelled against the king of Assyria and did not serve him. 8 From watchtower to fortified city, he defeated the Philistines, as far as Gaza and its territory.
SUCCESSFUL:
Being successful in life is the desire of everyone, yet it goes by certain rule. Anyone who does not want to follow that rule takes the wrong route and the end may be disastrous.
How can an unemployed high school graduate WISH to ride a Ferrari without first working to earn it.
Stop the day dreaming and step out to make it happen by going through the right route.
We shall consider five rules according to the above Bible passage:
1. PLEASE GOD: vs 3 he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father David had done. – Make all effort to please the Lord in quest for success. Go by God’s rule and you will get to success. Don’t leave the old correct legacy according to development
2. TAKE AWAY EVERY OBSTRUCTION: vs 4 he removed the high places, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles. He broke into pieces the bronze snake Moses had made, for up to that time the Israelites had been burning incense to it. (It was called Nehushtan.[b])—Remove every obstruction. Get total rid of them (laziness, procrastination , unforgiveness, bitterness, unhealthy rivalry or competition, lost of focus due to the achievement of others, etc )
3. TRUST IN GOD FOR SUCCESS: Vs 5 Hezekiah trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel. There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, either before him or after him. —Trust in God for everything. They that trust in God shall never be put to shame.
4. KEEP YOUR PERSONAL AND CORPORATE FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD: Vs 6 He held fast to the Lord and did not stop following him; he kept the commands the Lord had given Moses. —let nothing obstruct your fellowship with your God. Hold on to Him no matter what comes your way. IN HOLDING UNTO THE LORD IS WHERE YOU FIND DIRECTION
5. AIM AT SUCCEEDING: VS 7And the Lord was with him; he was successful in whatever he undertook. He rebelled against the king of Assyria and did not serve him. 8 From watchtower to fortified city, he defeated the Philistines, as far as Gaza and its territory. — following these rules according to 2 Kings 18 will bring you success. This is because God’s presence will always be with you in all that you do.
Don’t forget, the confirmation of God’s presence is by signs and wonders. His presence shall proceed with you in Jesus name. Amen
