Invitation: The Un-named Women

img_3789-2

I have seen several women in the scriptures whose “real names” were not recorded in the bible; instead, several tags were used to describe them.

Examples:

• The woman with the issue of blood {her ailment was used to describe her} Matt 9:20-22, Mark 5: 25-34, Luke 8:43-48.

• The widow of Zarephath {Named after her location} 1 Kings 17: 7-16

• The Shunamite woman {her Location} 2 Kings 4:8-37 & 2Kings 8:1-6

• The Queen of Sheba {her kingdom} 1Kings 10:1-13, 2Chronicles 9: 1-12

• The maid of Naaman’s wife 2Kings 5:1-19

• The widow with two mites Mark 12:12 41-44, Luke 21:1-4 etcetera.

Many of these women, although their first and last names were not mentioned, yet, they did great exploits that women of our time can learn from.

I would therefore like to invite you and the women you hold dear to join me and our ACTS Christian Women Fellowship on a study series’ adventure as we explore the stories of these women, and gain some valuable lessons from their lives in the hopes that we too may do better as God’s daughters.

ACTS Christian women fellowship has Titus 2:3-5 as our watch word, hence “we learn from each other”. Please feel free to share your thoughts with us on every one of our articles and let us all learn at the feet of Christ.

Do you know other women whose names were not mentioned in the scriptures?

Please share them in the comments below.

Remain blessed.
